Engineer, Procure, Construct

CPS National operate as a complete Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC) however in conjunction with consortia partners, can also execute as an Independent Power Provider (IPP) under a Build, Own, Operate (BOO) model. Full end to end project management (design/supply/install) through to supply line of hybrid power products, remote diagnostics along with maintenance contracts are all part of the holistic service offering.

As part of the Ampcontrol Group, CPS National have a robust domestic and international supply chain, coupled with key vertical integration capabilities to make sure any project is a success for owners and investors.

What is an Engineer, Procure Construct (EPC) contract?

An EPC is a contractor approach to undertake often large and complex infrastructure projects. An often defining factor of an EPC contract is the guarantee undertaken by the contractor for both price and delivery date, with monetary penalties for non-compliance.

EPC may also be referred to as Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (or Management), or as a Turn Key Project. An owner of the project will provide the EPC contractor with full design and specification detail, however sub-contracting works and price negations thereafter are undertaken by the EPC.

Providing EPC services requires a level of sophistication and experienced professionals to instill confidence in the owner, and take on the risk that is inherently involved.

Build, Own, Operate (BOO)

BOO is a public-private partnership project model in which a private organisation builds, owns and operates a solar farm in partnership with, or with some degree of encouragement from the government. The developer owns and operates the facility independently.

Independent Power Provider (IPP)

An IPP refers to an owner of a power generation plant that sells electricity to a utility or end user. Such a provider is neither a utility itself or publicly owned. IPP power generation facilities are often solar or wind farms.

Project Focus – Onslow Stage 2

Onslow stage 2 microgrid

Deemed to be one of Australia’s largest and most advanced micro-grid projects, Horizon Power, Western Australia’s main grid operator has bought together a mix of gas-fired power, utility-scale solar and battery storage in the town of Onslow.

CPS National was contracted by Horizon Power for the full engineer, procure and construct (EPC) of the 1.05MW AC / 1.114MWp solar farm that was connected to the new module 5.25MW gas fired power station. Completed in 2019 the project delivers enough reliable power for half the towns residences.
